Macroeconomics is concerned with the interrelationships around macroeconomic parameters such as production, unemployment, inflation, interest rates and foreign trade. It also deals with questions concerning the differences in economic development between countries.

On the research side, the staff of the Institute is primarily active in the area of empirical analysis. New data sources are used to evaluate questions in the fields of macroeconomics, conflict research, migration, international trade and economic geography.
